Youth Bible School 2008 Audio CD
Today I received the recording by Altar of Praise Studio from Chorus at YBS ‘08. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the recording. It sounds better than it did live, at least to my untrained ear. Though it is not listed on their website, you can probably get yourself a copy of this recording if you contact them.
Here’s my favorite of all the selections:
God’s Regret
I read this today:
When the LORD saw that man’s wickedness was wide spread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. Then the LORD said, ‘I will wipe off the face of the earth: man, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky–for I regret that I made them.’ Noah, however, found favor in the eyes of the LORD.”
-HISB

I wonder what history would look like if this cataclysmic event hadn’t occurred.
Miracle on the Hudson
You can read all the details here, but I was just amazed yesterday afternoon while watching this story unfold. Survivors? 155 out of 155. Can’t get better than that. This is my favorite photo from the event.
Just an aside, I wonder if those were Canadian Geese that got blendered?

I Won… after Discovering a Great Christian Finance Blog
So in my search for the best savings interest rate, I tripped across the Christian Finance Blog’s review of Dollar Savings Direct (which by the way has a 4% interest rate on their savings accounts). One of the posts on the blog was asking people to comment for the chance to win $35 worth of tax prep software. I spent 60 seconds writing my thoughts about Christmas and a few days later was contacted with a congratulatory notice. Not bad. Of course, the odds weren’t stacked too hard––there were 11 comments

Verizon FIOS
I got to use Verizon’s business FIOS in Everett today while configuring a networked printer for a business client. Wow, I’d be willing to pay a pretty penny to get that kind of connectivity. Here’s a screenshot with the test results. 15Mb/s down and 5.4Mb/s up! At home I get 2.8 Mb/s down and about 80Kb/s up on Verizon DSL.
Picasa for Mac
The long awaited Picasa 3 for Mac OS X has arrived. Unfortunately it won’t work on my iMac G5, but I look forward to using it on my laptop. This was one of the last remaining reasons I still preferred Windows for my media storage and digital asset management needs.
